Myranda Walso

My name is Myranda Walso. I was born and raised in Alaska and currently live in Chugiak with my husband, two children, three dogs, and two cats. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, camping, hiking, video games, and spending time with my family. I currently work for the Municipality as a Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department, and I previously served as a Contracts Administrator for Parks & Recreation. My municipal service has focused on public-sector procurement, contract administration, compliance, and working collaboratively across departments to support effective and accountable operations.
I hold a dual Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Alaska Anchorage. My professional background is rooted in government administration and public service, with experience navigating complex policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements. In addition to my municipal roles, I have been involved in labor- and workforce-related efforts, including work supporting fair employment practices and protections for workers—particularly individuals with disabilities—through public policy and administrative processes. I currently serve as a Union Shop Steward, advocating for members and supporting fair and transparent workplace practices.
I believe strong collective bargaining is essential to protecting public-sector employees, ensuring fairness in the workplace, and maintaining effective public services.
